Octopuses are problem-solvers. They can use trial and error to find the best way to get what they want. The highly sensitive suction cups and prehensile arms allow them to hold and manipulate objects. Octopuses solve problems, navigate through mazes and they can also play golf, making them one of the smartest creatures in the sea. Currently they are trying to solve a problem of synthetic fabric which is considered a major source of ocean pollution entering our food chain. Microfibres are a type of microplastic released when we wash synthetic clothing – clothing made from plastic such as polyester and acrylic.
