High levels of endemism are attributed to Australia’s long isolation and maintained, as is the high species richness, by the lack of recent mass extinction events. To see South Australia’s most unique marine life, you have to travel south to the Great Southern Reef and dive into the country’s cooler temperate seas, as this is the realm of PJs, leafies,  cuttlies, knobby seahorses, anglerfish, octopus and many other wonderful endemic creatures
